How to Make in Adobe PDF and Microsoft Word
Step 1 – Download in Adobe PDF (.pdf) or Microsoft Word (.doc).
Step 2 – Enter your company’s name and contact information at the top, including phone number. Then enter the client’s name and phone number below that, and the date of the invoice, invoice number, and name of person completing the invoice to the right.
Step 3 – Table – Fill in each separate item or service in a separate row in the table. Then enter the number of items to the left and the price/rate for each item or service to the right. For example, “quantity = 1 lb, item = standard wash, price = $2/pound.” Then multiply to enter the total for each row in the right column.
Step 4 – Add each figure in the right Total column to get the subtotal. Add applicable tax to this to reach the grand total.
How to Make in Microsoft Excel
Step 1 – Download in Microsoft Excel (.xls).
Step 2 – Insert your company’s name and logo at the top. Underneath, enter the address and other contact info for the client where it reads “Bill To,” and then enter the shipping information to the right if it’s different from the Bill To info.
Step 3 – Enter the salesperson’s name, invoice date, payment terms, delivery date, and payment due date to the right, and include related information if necessary.
Step 4 – Table – Place each item in a separate row, followed by its description, quantity, and unit price to get the total for each row. The figures in the total row will add to get the subtotal. Apply any sales tax, shipping, or discounts to this to get the grand total.
Step 5 – Specify whom to make checks payable to and enter your company’s contact information at the bottom.
