How to Make in Adobe PDF and Microsoft Word
Step 1 – Download in Adobe PDF (.pdf) or Microsoft Word (.doc).
Step 2 – At the top, enter the name of your law office followed by its contact information. Then enter the invoice number and date of invoice below this.
Step 3 – Bill To – Here, write the client’s name and contact information. To the right, describe the case or legal matter specifically enough to identify it.
Step 4 – Table – For each separate service involved in working for the client on this case, enter a new row in the table. E.g., questioning witnesses in one row and preliminary hearing in another row. Include the date and price of each service, then enter their totals to the right.
Step 5 – Add each figure in the total column to arrive at the subtotal, and apply any taxes or expenses to reach the grand total. Enter the due date as well.
How to Make in Microsoft Excel
Step 1 – Download in Microsoft Excel (.xls).
Step 2 – Heading – Enter your law office’s name and then write it’s address, phone number, and email below.
Step 3 – Bill To – Write the customer’s name, address, and phone number. To the right, include the invoice number and the name and number of the preparer of the invoice.
Step 4 – Table – Enter a separate row for each different type of service provided. Write the date the service was provided to the left, and include the number of hours performed and rate for each to get the amount due for each.
Step 5 – Total – By adding each figure in the amount column, you’ll get the grand total the client owes. Attach any notes or instructions regarding payment and due dates.
